A successful executor/director employee needs to have many attributes not the least of which is being a good organiser.  I have developed an insight over the years of having the ability to accessing the problems and situations.  And then turn that situation into an asset.  There is no such project or business or situation that cannot be solved.  The problems have occured are only created by a person.  Therefore, that problem can be fixed. 
There is no such thing as a bad employee, director, executive or manager, all problems happen because of human error.
To access the situation and fix a plan for the solution, the second is to sellect the wright person for the project will determine whether it is successful and more importantly, whether or not your business will prosper.
